Strength-Based, Solution-Focused Therapy
When you experience obstacles or difficulties in your life, you often already have the solutions and tools to successfully overcome these obstacles. In Solution-Focused therapy, the therapist will help you identify areas in your life and times when you have successfully solved problems. By helping you identify your own strengths and resources, the therapist will help you identify ways in which you can tackle the problems you are currently struggling with. Through little experiments you try between sessions and by closely tracking your progress on your goals, you, like most clients, will likely begin experiencing success in overcoming the obstacles that brought you to therapy. Solution-Focused therapy is present and future focused, and is usually brief. That is why it is often also referred to as “Solution Oriented Brief Therapy”.
